Donatello and Pinocchio wine supplier, Eurowines, were toasting their own success last night as once again they clinched the award for Italian Wine Merchant of the Year at the 2015 Sommelier Wine Awards (SWA).
London-based Eurowines is owned and operated by Leo Addis – family member of Donatello owner, Sue Addis. The company was founded in 1967 by Alfonso Addis who begun the family tradition of marketing fine Italian wines to the UK and further afield.
This latest success represents the third consecutive year that Eurowines have landed this prestigious award, following on from success in the same category in 2014 and 2013.
As if to prove to judges and experts that their choice of wines keeps getting better, Eurowines managed to beat their own ‘personal best’ this year by collecting an astonishing 36 individual awards – up from 28 last year and 22 in 2013. In addition, 11 of Eurowines samples were awarded the ‘commended’ rosette – a recommendation from the SWA reserved for the very finest wines.
All the team at Donatello and Pinocchio would like to congratulate Leo and all the team at Eurowines – your hat-trick win is very much deserved and we look forward to working with you for many years to come.
